Colorado Trail Challenge

10/5/20:

I shaved more time off of my mile again! I’m down to 9:22, which sucked and I felt like I was cruising. My coach literally ran 26.2 miles with an average mile time way shorter than mine. Motivation: engaged. It’s only day 5 but I’m happy with the success I’ve had thus far. Starting from nothing, I’ll take 9:22.

I wasn’t able to run on my field because of girls youth soccer of all things. I couldn’t be super mad, I was mostly just jealous that they’re at the beginning of their journeys. Anyway, I had to go to a different field to run and I hated it. After running a mile and walking another, I decided to just go home and bike the rest.

Some days, we just don’t have it. And that’s ok. When you’re a student-athlete, it’s not really ok to have bad days. Once I became a captain on my team, I finally understood and embodied the idea that bad days will happen, it’s all just a part of the process. You just get up tomorrow and do it again and things will eventually fall into place, and time will continue to pass. No matter what, beating yourself up over it will just make it worse. So, with that, I celebrated my success in my mile time and accepted that today just wasn’t my day. We can’t forget to practice kindness with ourselves.

That being said, I’m looking forward to getting after it tomorrow!
