Colorado Trail Challenge

10/8/20:

A lot of things got in the way of running today. Two weeks ago, I would have let them prevent me from working out, making up all sorts of excuses for myself. Today, and this month, you guys have been the extra push that I’ve needed to hold myself accountable. I don’t want to let you down when I see that you’re all crushing your mileage everyday!

I didn’t even try to go to my OG field today, I’m pretty sure I know exactly what I would have found there: children and soccer balls. I went to my new field and ran a 9:03 mile! The wind was crazy and the temperature dropped significantly in the past few days, so that first mile was cold and uncomfortable. My workout totaled 4 miles, running 3. I came home and biked the rest before dinner!

Mental toughness has been my biggest frenemy lately. After having draining days, my glass has been pretty far below half-full when I start my workouts and when the going gets tough, it takes a lot to keep running at times. I’m happy to say that so far, I’ve persevered and beat my own brain. Racing the sun helps. So does knowing that I’m going home to dinner.

It’s been so picturesque here the past few days. I keep meaning to bring cleats and some balls to kick around after I run. Hopefully next week when I’m not working so late!
